The Nashville Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians is proud to announce a special memorial event to honor the legacy of Nashville’s first Catholic church and its enduring impact on our community. The event, to be held at the State Capitol, commemorates the historic Holy Rosary Cathedral—built in 1820—and marks a milestone in our religious heritage with the installation of Bishop R. P. Miles as the first Bishop of Tennessee on October 15, 1838.
This commemorative gathering not only recognizes the spiritual significance of Holy Rosary Cathedral but also celebrates the pioneering spirit of the early Irish Catholic settlers who laid the foundation for Nashville’s vibrant cultural and religious landscape.
